The Massachusetts Gastroenterology Association (MGA) Endoscopic Education Program Committee has been formed with the mission of providing practical, evidence-based lectures and seminars to practicing New England gastroenterologists and GI fellows who may not have the opportunity to attend more distant and extended national conferences. This lecture series covers a broad range of topics in endoscopy, hepatology, and gastroenterology. National and regional malpractice claims data can be difficult to obtain and interpret. In addition, published data may not be applicable to an individual’s practice setting or region. Therefore, an update in the current understanding of medical malpractice is necessary to maintain current knowledge and competence gastroenterology practice. GI fellowship training focuses on acquiring endoscopic and clinical skills, but does not often address the career search process. In this conference, we will present several employment models for gastroenterology. Program Objectives
1. Evaluate regional malpractice data in the context of their own practice setting.
2. Identify common themes in claims in a case-based setting.
3. Understand the different employment models for gastroenterology.
