Description:

Business Essentials for Health Care Professionals is a new 10-week fully virtual program designed specifically for health care professionals. The program builds business and leadership skills professionals need to operate and lead effectively in today's health care environment. Enrollment is limited.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through joint providership of the Massachusetts Medical Society and GoalMakers. The Massachusetts Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

1. Apply structured goal setting and planning frameworks to align organizational vision, priorities, and action steps across teams in ways that advance high quality, safe, equitable, and patient-centered care

2. Lead collaborative planning and decision-making processes that engage interprofessional stakeholders and promote shared ownership of organizational goals, strengthening care coordination, patient experience, and clinical outcomes

3. Implement effective hiring, coaching, and management practices by defining roles clearly, supporting employee development, and reinforcing accountability and empowerment to build high-performing teams that deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care

4. Apply principles of empowerment management to develop a unified management structure and repeatable systems that improve clarity, communication and commitment across stakeholders through structured team huddles, managerial one-on-ones, incentive programs, and leadership meetings

5. Analyze core financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow, to assess organizational health and performance ensuring financial stewardship that sustains access to high-quality health care services

6. Use financial and operational data to guide strategic leadership decisions, including strategies to support revenue growth, manage expenses, and improve long-term organizational sustainability, while prioritizing improvements in patient outcomes, quality of care, and community health impact
