Description:Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Clinical Practice: Does Machine Learning Empower or Challenge Physicians? Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a fast-emerging area of IT in Healthcare. Increasingly massive data collections are being used for both clinical improvement and population health advances. The majority of clinicians have only a passing knowledge of the implications of this group of technologies beyond the buzz words. This program will provide a primer on AI and provide detailed examples of current uses as well as a projection for implications 5 years out. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this educational activity, participants shall be able to: - Describe in some detail the variety of technologies that currently make up AI.
- Identify examples of clinical implementations of AI to improve patient care.
- Relate why IBM/Watson did not achieve the desired results in its MD Anderson implementation.
- Name the major strategic recommendations set forth in the JASON AI Report.
